Company registration cost in Oman, including for expats
Government fees are the same for Omani and foreign shareholders: the Commercial Registration and activity fees, Chamber membership and the municipality licence in the table above. Expats and foreign investors usually add: attestation and translation of documents issued abroad, a power of attorney if they are not in Oman, and investor residence costs. A small mainland company without visas typically costs about OMR 1,500–3,500 in the first year. For a line-by-line breakdown read company registration cost in Oman, and for CR fees and renewals see the Commercial Registration guide. Free zone fees are in free zone setup costs.
Free zone costs
Free zone budgets are driven by the zone's registration fees and, above all, by land, warehouse or office leases. See the free zone setup cost guide.
Ongoing yearly costs
After year one you'll renew registrations, leases and visas and pay for accounting, audit and tax filings. See annual renewal costs.
How to keep costs down
- Choose activities carefully. Unnecessary regulated activities add approvals.
- Match premises to your stage. Start with a flexi-desk if your activity allows.
- Plan visas against Omanisation. Compliance keeps work-permit fees lower.
- Attest documents once, correctly. Re-attestation costs time and money.
Frequently asked questions
How much does it cost to open a company in Oman?
A small mainland company with a flexible office and no visas typically costs around OMR 1,500–3,500 in the first year. With visas and a conventional office, budgets of OMR 4,500–9,000 or more are common.
Is setting up in Oman cheaper than in the UAE?
Often yes, particularly for office rents, licence renewals and salaries. The right comparison depends on your market and tax position. See Oman vs UAE.
Do I need to deposit share capital?
Most foreign-owned LLCs and SPCs have no fixed minimum capital. Whatever capital you set in the articles may need to be shown to the bank. Joint stock companies have statutory minimums.

About OMR 350–800 all-in per employee, excluding salary, depending on the work permit, medical and insurance.
