Individual shareholders and managers
- Passport copy, valid for at least six months
- Recent passport-size photograph
- Residential address and contact details: email and mobile number
- For residents of Oman: resident card copy, plus a no-objection letter from your current sponsor where your employment terms require one
- For managers and authorised signatories: the same identity documents, plus specimen signature
Corporate shareholders
- Certificate of incorporation or commercial registration of the parent company
- Memorandum and articles of association
- Board resolution approving the investment in Oman and appointing an authorised representative
- Power of attorney for the representative and the filing agent
- Register of shareholders and directors, or a certificate of incumbency, to identify the ultimate beneficial owners
- Recent audited financial statements, typically for branches, representative offices and some regulated activities
Attestation and translation
Documents issued outside Oman must be apostilled in countries that are party to the Apostille Convention, or otherwise legalised by the Omani embassy and Oman's Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Documents not in Arabic or English usually need a certified Arabic translation, and some authorities require Arabic translations of English documents too. Start attestation early: it is the most common cause of delay.

Frequently asked questions
Do my documents need to be attested?
Documents issued outside Oman for corporate shareholders, and some personal documents such as degrees and marriage certificates, must be apostilled or legalised. Passport copies of individual shareholders usually do not.
Do I need to translate documents into Arabic?
Official filings are in Arabic. We prepare Arabic versions of the company documents. Foreign corporate documents may need certified translation depending on the authority.
Can I sign the documents outside Oman?
Yes. Shareholders can sign abroad, with attestation, or appoint a representative under a power of attorney.
What documents are needed for a free zone company?
Broadly the same identity and corporate documents, plus a business plan or project summary that the zone authority reviews. Each zone publishes its own application form.
